Leadership Team

At the helm of Pirates Off the Plank & Into PASSION is a leadership team grounded in experience, compassion, and purpose. This movement is all about helping people step off the plank of pain, shame, or self-doubt—and into their passion, purpose, and personal healing.

Jack Sparrow – Mr. Ross Dawson

Ross Dawson is the guiding force behind the Pirates Off the Plank & Into PASSION movement. With over two decades of experience in holistic support work and more than 5,000 hours of one-on-one client time, Ross offers a grounded, safe, and heart-led space for emotional exploration and self-discovery.

Ross draws on his extensive background in yoga-based and integrative support, combining ancient wisdom with contemporary practice. His work empowers people to slow down, feel what needs to be felt, and reconnect with the inner strength they already carry.

Ross’s Strengths Include:

  • Conscious conversation and deep listening

  • Emotional clarity and nervous system regulation

  • Guiding people through burnout, breakdown, or emotional overload

  • Helping members rediscover purpose, stillness, and direction

  • Anchoring the group in non-judgment, presence, and inner wisdom

Ross is the President of this movement—our compass, our calm in the storm, and the steady anchor who helps us chart a new course.

Vice Captains – Mr. Shane Fixter & Mr. Jay Davidson

Mr. Shane Fixter
Founder of both Pumicestone Passage Pirates Inc. and Teachers Australia, Shane is an award-winning educator and community leader with 16+ years of experience. He has worked in Aboriginal communities, mainstream schools, and mental health initiatives, and is known for his raw honesty, resilience, and hands-on leadership.

Shane’s Strengths Include:

  • Peer mentorship and trauma recovery

  • Helping members build businesses and passion projects

  • Supporting men and women on personal development journeys

  • Leading community events focused on connection and healing

  • Guiding people from survival to self-belief, and into contribution

Mr. Jay Davidson
A qualified Guidance Officer and high school teacher, Jay brings decades of educational experience and emotional intelligence to the team. He has worked across remote communities and inner-city schools, and is known for his calm approach to difficult conversations and youth support.

Jay’s Strengths Include:

  • Assisting members through emotional blocks and transitions

  • Coaching teens and adults toward clarity, purpose, and resilience

  • Supporting men’s wellbeing and personal growth

  • Providing reflective space for goal-setting and healing

  • Using educational insight to build stronger, more conscious futures
