Our Fundraising Goal
The Pirates Off The Plank Scholarship Gala Ball is designed to fund trained Pirate Circle facilitators.

These facilitators will be trained through Internal Family Systems (IFS) – a globally recognised therapeutic model focused on compassion, self-awareness, and emotional healing.
Our goal is simple:
$35,000
Funds one fully trained Pirate Circle facilitator to lead weekly circles in Moreton Bay.
$70,000
Funds two facilitators:
One in Moreton Bay
One on the Sunshine Coast
These circles will operate every week, helping people build connection and resilience long before crisis occurs.

What are Pirate Circles?
What Are Pirate Circles?
Pirate Circles are small, structured weekly gatherings led by trained facilitators.
They create safe spaces where people can come together for:
• Guided conversations
• Mental health literacy
• Peer support and connection
• Early conversation before crisis
Pirate Circles strengthen the most powerful protective factors for wellbeing:
Connection.
Belonging.
Community.
Because no pirate should stand alone.

Why Pirate Circles Matter
Pirate Circles are built on three powerful foundations that strengthen mental wellbeing in our Sunshine Coast and Moreton Bay communities.

Social Connection
Pirate Circles create a space where people can slow down, connect and share real conversations with others in their community.
In a world where many people feel isolated despite being surrounded by others, these gatherings bring people together through shared experiences, nature and open dialogue.
Whether someone is struggling or simply looking for connection, Pirate Circles remind us that we are not alone.
Strong social connection is one of the most powerful protective factors for mental wellbeing, helping people feel supported, understood and valued within their community.

Community Belonging
Pirate Circles are about strengthening the sense that we all belong somewhere.
Held across the Sunshine Coast and Moreton Bay, these gatherings bring together people from different walks of life who share a common goal: building stronger, healthier communities.
When people feel they belong, they are more likely to support one another, care for the environment around them, and contribute positively to their community.
Pirate Circles foster a culture of respect, inclusion and connection where everyone has a place in the crew.
Because no pirate should stand alone.

Early Conversations Regarding Mental Health
Many people wait until things become overwhelming before seeking support.
Pirate Circles encourage early, honest conversations about mental health before crisis occurs.
Guided by trained facilitators using Internal Family Systems (IFS) principles, these gatherings help people develop greater self-awareness, compassion and emotional understanding.
By creating safe spaces for open discussion, Pirate Circles help break down stigma and encourage people to talk about what they are going through.
Sometimes the most powerful support begins with a simple conversation.
